The Palace Theater was built in 1914 to show motion pictures. The name changed to the Crown in the 1940s. At some point the façade was altered and now has a large crown projecting from above the marquee.
The Crown has continuously shown movies since it opened in 1914.

Frequently Asked Questions about the map
Not necessarily. It is up to you to determine if any given location is one you can physically visit.
Placing historical stories on a map can be tricky. We choose locations based on what we think makes the most sense. Sometimes we get it wrong (and sometimes there is no "right" answer). Feel free to email us at

Browser geolocation is a relatively new technology. Some older web browsers may not be able to use this feature. Sometimes even the best, newest web browsers fail to load a correct location (or any location at all). Functionality depends on a number of additional factors, including the presence of conflicting browser plugins, network conditions, privacy settings, and more.
